So far in 2020, Boise is up $8 million from venture capital earned in 2015, totaling $70.2 million! The area has undergone an evolution with hip eateries, coffee shops and businesses cropping up everywhere; even going as far to lure businesses back to their roots from Silicon Valley. Boise State University opened Venture College in 2014 with the goal of doubling the number of computer science majors and supporting students success with teaching classes on entrepreneurship and arranging internships. Local business owners credit lower cost of living, shorter commutes and better access to the outdoors with drawing highly talented individuals.
